Environmental quality management means to manage human behaviours to ensure that the environmental quality meets the specific environmental standards. A 'quality environment' is essential for healthy and happy living. The environment has several components that are interlinked in a complex manner. Each component has a large number of parameters. The change in any one of them has a bearing on the quality of environment. The quality of the total environment can only be understood and appreciated if we understand the importance of each of the components. Therefore, each component is as important as the total environment. The quality of total environment is the sum total of the quality of its - components such as air, water, soil land, noise and radiation - both singly as well as the outcomes of their interactions with the other components. This is because, each component plays two kinds of roles in the environment - one, at single level, and second, while interlinked to the other components. The indicators like - shelter, public health and safety, efficiency factor, and people's comfort and enjoyment, can assess the quality of environment particularly in context of human beings.
The environmental quality varies spatially, and is never static. The main parameters that influence the quality of various environmental components are: Air - composition, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, oxides of sulfur, particulates, ozone, nitrogen oxides, pollutants, temperature, pathogen load, and noise. For an effective management of environmental quality, a holistic planning incorporating the current as well as the anticipated global, regional, and socio-economic, geographic, and environmental issues, is essential. It encompasses a wide range of procedures from pollution control to sustainable development goals. This book includes in-depth research about environmental policy making, pollution control and management, modelling of industrial management practice effect on environmental quality, environmental code and policy analysis, environmental resource management, ecosystem resilience, environment risk assessment, geospatial technologies of environmental changes and marine models used to forecast seawater quality. Some of the diverse topics covered in this book address the varied branches that fall under this subject area. The topics discussed are of utmost significance and bound to provide incredible insights to students. The book is appropriate for those seeking detailed information in this area.
