"Engineering is a profession in which scientific knowledge and mathematics is used and experimented with to develop ways that benefit mankind, making it extremely important to society for several reasons. Engineering encompasses a whole range of industries that could include on-site, practical construction work as well as evaluating safety systems from an office. The application of knowledge to design and build devices, systems, materials and processes in engineering. This book explores the different disciplines of engineering and providing learners with a broad background in different areas of engineering. The book presents an introduction to the methods and tools of engineering problem solving and design including experimentation, data analysis, computer and communication skills, and the interface of the engineer with society and engineering ethics.
The world has faced indefinite challenges, energy crisis, and development, climatic and other problems which needed some effective methods of solution. Engineers secure the faith of growing economy. Engineering plays such an important role because it is the way that we humans are able to use the rules of the world to achieve things. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology teach us how the universe works, it gives us all the instructions we need as to how things interact. Engineering is the way of taking the instructions and using them to make the things that nature didn’t give us. It is the role of the engineer, however, to minimize the effects of damage on the surrounding ecosystems, and design necessary infrastructures that are both efficient and safe. It is the role of the engineer to protect the environment and the people within it. Engineers aim to benefit the people of the present by employing effective structures that are intended to improve transportation and living habits of earth’s inhabitants.
In this book, you will develop your identity as a modern engineer who will collaboratively contribute to sustainable and equitable communities. This book will broadly introduce the engineering profession and highlight the socio-technical and interdisciplinary nature of engineering. The themes of the book will enable students to: distinguish and practice professional conduct; communicate and interact in a style appropriate to academic and professional contexts, including oral, written, and graphical styles; explain the engineering method from problem formulation through the complete life cycle."
